Overview

This tour centre’s on two of the greatest achievements of the ancient Peruvian cultures. Macuh Picchu is the ‘lost city’ made by the Incan people in the Andes mountains and one of the modern seven wonders of the world. The Nazca lines are a series of geoglyphs, designs of monkeys and fish, made in the Nasca desert by the Nazca Culture and viewable only from the air.

Day 1: Lima

Upon arrival private transportation to the Hotel. Overnight at the selected hotel. Church and cloister of San Francisco.

Day 2: Lima

At the appointed time, your guide will pick you up from the hotel for a city tour of Lima. This private tour starts with a drive to the Park of Love in Miraflores, where you can enjoy the modern surroundings and a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. Then, the tour continues to the aristocratic, residential suburb of San Isidro, followed by a drive to the Colonial area and the Plaza Mayor, where you will see the Government Palace, the Lima Cathedral, the Archbishop’s Palace and the City Hall. The tour ends with a visit to the XVII Century Church and cloister of San Francisco, a world cultural heritage. Overnight at selected hotel.

NAZCA

Day 3: Lima / Ica / Nazca / Ica

Transport to the bus station and bus ride to Ica.

Upon your arrival, you will be welcomed and taken your hotel by private transport. You will continue your ride until reaching the city of Nazca city to fly over the mysterious Nazca Lines: animals, geometric figures, and birds scratched on the arid crust of the desert and preserved for more than 2000 years.

Day 4: Ica / Paracas / Lima

Private drive of 60 km. (37 miles) north to Paracas for an excursion by boat to the Ballestas Islands to observe thousands of birds, sea lions and fur seals in their natural surroundings. The famous candlestik design, a Nasca civilization figure etched on the desert face, can also be seen from the boat. You will continue to the Paracas National Reserve where you will visit the “Julio C. Tello” Museum that has a collection of pottery, textiles, mummies and funerary bundles among others, that belong to the pre-ceramic societies and the Paracas Culture. Then you will visit the Interpretation Center of the Paracas National Reserve (they have photos of the fauna and flora of the Reserve on display).

Finally, you will visit “El Mirador de Lobos”, a rocky formation from where you will be able to observe the sea lions. One of the most beautiful places inside the Paracas National Reserve is “La Catedral, ” it has this name because of to its shape caused by the erosion of the sea and the wind. Return to Lima by bus in the afternoon.

Day 5: Lima / Cuzco

At the suitable time, private transportation to take the flight to Cusco. Upon your arrival in Cusco, you will be taken to your hotel in a private car. Free time available to rest and get used to the altitude. In the afternoon you will explore for three and a half hours the most magical city, Capital of the Inca Empire (XV century) on a tour including the Main Square, the Cathedral, Santo Domingo Monastery -the legendary Koricancha Temple, and the old town with its very narrow streets. Then comes a drive outside the city to visit the archaeological Inca ruins of Tambomachay, Qenqo, Puca Pucara and the impressive fortress of Sacsayhuaman, overlooking Cusco.

Sacred Valley

Day 6: Cuzco / Sacred Valley

After breakfast you will enjoy a full day excursion to the “Sacred Valley of the Incas”, on the Urubamba River. You will have the opportunity to shop in the lively and colorful Indian market of Pisac where the locals sell or exchange their products, as their ancestors did hundreds of years ago. After lunch in a typical restaurant, passing through the towns of Calca and Urubamba, you will visit the Inca Fortress and Citadel of Ollantaytambo, built to guard the entrance to this part of the valley, and protect it from the possible invasion of the tribes in the lower jungle. The fortress consists of a series of carved stone terraces accessed through long stairways. Overnight in a selected hotel in the Sacred Valley.

Day 7: Sacred Valley / Machu Picchu

Early in the morning, transportation to the train station to take the train to Machu Picchu and the village of Machu Picchu.

You will take a bus to the authentic site of the “Lost City of the Incas”. Your guide will take you throughout the vast ruins. Machu Picchu is the best known of the Inca ruins, as acknowledged worldwide, yet it is not mentioned in any of the writings of the Spanish Conquerors. It is believed that it was built around mid 15th century and was “rediscovered” by American historian Hiram Bingham in 1911.

The guided tour of this fascinating place is an awe-inspiring experience. Visit the Main Square, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows, the Circular Towers, the Sacred Sun Dial and Burial Grounds. After the excursion you’ll enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. Overnight in the selected hotel.

Day 8: Machu Picchu / Cuzco

Today is your chance to watch the sun rising over Macchu Picchu and to listen to the spirits of the city’s ancient inhabitants (no guide included today). For hiking enthusiasts, going up the Huayna Picchu peak overlooking the site is suggested. Return to Cusco in the afternoon and transportation to your hotel. Overnight in the selected hotel.

Day 9: Cuzco / Lima

Transport to the airport and flight to Lima. Upon arrival, transportation to the hotel. Free day for personal activities.
